It's About loving thy neighbor

"The Harvest Center of Charlotte is all about loving thy neighbor and helping to provide hope to those whom have lost it. From First John, 3:17: "But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?"

It's about purpose

"I have found my purpose at The Harvest Center of Charlotte and have been enabled to fulfill my passion in life, a career in ministry.  Being on the staff at THC gives me the chance to meet people where they are and assist them with getting where they need to go.  I feel like I am fulfilling my assignment from God as we not only provide physical food but also nurture and feed people spiritually, emotionally, and economically.  As I am helping to transform the lives of those we serve, I am being transformed as well!"  Brandi Meekins, Core Services Director

IT's about knowing all things are possible

"From the moment I connected with The Harvest Center of Charlotte, like others, I was hooked. It's hard to explain until you experience it first hand. The geniune desire of our transformation participants to make life changes, to the dedication of our staff and volunteers, to the powerful collection of knowledge from our Board of Advisors and Board of Directors. It's amazing to see how God uses everyone's talents to join forces to create a better community and we are constantly reminded of Matthew 19:26 "But Jesus looked at at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

IT'S ABOUT being grateful

"For the past two years that I’ve been involved, The Harvest Center of Charlotte is a place that I grow more and more grateful for all the time. The heart and nature of this organization, genuinely and deeply characterized by that of the leadership, staff, volunteers, donors and other supporters, is one of love and service. As an innate helper, I was drawn in and became committed to lend what I can in time and talent to further the goals of this organization.  The program participants that I have met and talked with, taken photos of, prayed for, eaten lunch with at a community meal or driven with to an event would agree—through investments made toward their transformation, their nature to love and serve is recharged and palpable. I truly believe in the work that The Harvest Center of Charlotte is doing, and spare no opportunity to encourage others to learn about and support that work, however they can. Come join us, you'll truly be blessed!”

IT'S ABOUT opening doors

"About 13 years ago, I lost my job as a lab technician.  The Harvest Center of Charlotte opened a door for me to come and serve. Starting as a faithful volunteer, the Lord has blessed me to become the Food Service Manager.  I thank God because he answered my prayers even through a tough circumstance. When I see what THC has done and is doing in the lives of our guests and residents, it let's me know that we are doing what the word of God has called us to do. Changing lives through the word of God and making disciples. There are many more homeless in our community and others who give will be a blessing to them!"

IT'S ABOUt the life changing benefits

Without the Harvest Center of Charlotte, I would be lost in so many ways. It has shown me the importance of spiritual growth, teamwork, and living a structured life. The Bible studies, church involvement, adult continuing education (ACE) classes, Business Builders and Practicing Professional classes have all taught me what a real adult life looks like. I want more people to give to The Harvest Center of Charlotte so that future participants will be able to reap the spiritual, team-minded, and life changing benefits needed to get out of the rut of homelessness and to be able to succeed in life.

IT'S ABOUT CONNECTING TO YOUR SOURCE

"I grew up going to church, but I did not know God. I wanted to, but didn't know how. After 25 years in a bad marriage in which both of us were searching for everything that didn't fulfill, I left everything on a journey to find what I was looking for. Abandoned and alone in Charlotte, I found The Harvest Center of Charlotte and that is where I found God. And it's in the people who work here, I now have hope to reconnect with my children and move them here with me. The Harvest Center of Charlotte is about reconnecting to your source."

it's about hope

"When you drive through the streets of Charlotte, you see the homeless standing on the corners. They all have looks of hopefulness on their faces . . . many holding signs asking for help. When they come to the Harvest Center of Charlotte we offer them help. We give them a hot meal, a place to come in where it is cool in the summer and warm in the winter . . . but we offer them more, much more. At the Harvest Center of Charlotte, we offer hope. We open the Word of God, and they hear about Jesus. It is in Him that we all find our hope. I have been at the Harvest Center of Charlotte for 15 years, and I can say that I have seen lives changed because of that HOPE."

It's about strength

"Strength has come to my life because of The Harvest Center of Charlotte, I had lost all hope and was afraid that I could never get my life together. I don't have the words to express the love I have for the staff here. Everyday they let me know that I am somebody."

IT'S ABOUT Meaning, purpose & dignity

"The Business Builders class at The Harvest Center of Charlotte has taught me that all of us are similar in many ways. Regardless of our economic state in life, we all desire to have meaning, purpose and dignity in our lives. For some of us in order to achieve that meaning and purpose God created us to work and that work is good. The Business Builders class is designed to help the participants bring meaning to the pursuit of work beyond that of simply providing an income for oneself. The purpose of the class is twofold: 1) creating disciples who can take the word of Christ into the market place and 2) matching the giftedness of the class participants with the career that God has prepared for them.

IT'S ABOUT believing in yourself

"The Harvest Center of Charlotte encourages people not to give up on themselves or others and just because one door may be closed, keep knocking because all doors are not closed.  At THC, I have learned to believe in myself and that no matter what comes along God has a way of showing me how to get to the other side. People who give to The Harvest Center of Charlotte are the incentive to some people to keep going and not give up!"

It's about providing resources

The Harvest Center addresses needs that are near and dear to my heart. It is our responsibility to provide resources that will meet the basic needs of our sisters and brothers. I recall volunteering in the HC's meal program many years ago and always looked for ways to pay it forward after that experience. The Harvest Center of Charlotte makes Matthew 25:35 a reality for countless people. "I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you invited me to your house." It is a pleasure to serve!
